A weekend split may not seem like a lot, but thanks to a win Friday night, the Nipissing Lakers women's basketball team has now recorded the best single-season in the program's history.
The Lakers picked up a 72-64 victory over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, before falling 105-53 to the Queens Gaels on Saturday.
In the opening game of the weekend, Nipissing led Ontario Tech 41-37 at halftime.
The Lakers outscored the Ridgebacks 31-27 in the second half as well to pick up the victory and set the new standard for the program.
Devisha Binns led the way with a monster game, scoring 27 points,
Natalie Martinez added 21 and
Nicole Budd ad 10 in the contest.
Saturday was a tough outing against a very strong Gaels team.
The Gaels controlled the game and led 53-35 at halftime as they cruised to the victory over Nipissing.
Megan McCarter had a strong game, posting 17 points, while
Vanessa Willis added nine in the game.
Nipissing wraps up the regular season this weekend with a pair of games in Toronto, facing the Ryerson Rams Friday and the Varsity Blues Saturday.
Both games are set for 6pm.
