With playoffs coming up next weekend, the Nipissing Lakers men's volleyball was looking to finish the regular season strong.
The Lakers welcomed the Trent Excalibur to the Surtees Athletic Centre and came away with ????
A strong start gave the Lakers the lead in the match, as they took home the first set in fairly convincing fashion.
Up 18-12 at the midway point, the Lakers moved ahead 22-14 and cruised to the victory, taking early control of the match.
Trent came out strong in the second set and held an early 8-4 lead over Nipissing.
The Lakers stormed back to take a 16-15 lead at the technical timeout, scoring 12 of 20 points during their run.
They pushed the lead to 22-19 and took the set 25-21 to go up 2-0 in the match.
Nipissing took care of business and took out the brooms in the third set, grabbing an early 5-3 and cushioning their lead, 16-13, at the technical timeout.
They held on to their three point lead, 20-17 and cruised to the 25-19 victory to cap off the season in style.
Curtis MacPherson put up 14 kills in today's match, while
Grady McClure added 10 and
Liam Ludlow had five against Trent.
Nipissing hits the road next weekend to take on the West Division champions, the McMaster Marauders.
Match time is still yet to be confirmed, but the match will take place in Hamilton on Saturday afternoon.
