Box Score Another remarkable season came to an end Saturday as the Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team was eliminated in Round 2 of the OUA McCaw Cup playoffs.
After a 5-2 loss in Game 1, the Lakers fell short, losing 6-2 to the York Lions in Toronto, as the Lions swept the best-of-three series 2-0.
The Lakers scored the game's opening goal and the final goal of the contest, but the Lions controlled the middle portion of the game, earning the win.
Teagan Feltz scored a power play marker at the 8:22 mark of the first period to give Nipissing the 1-0 lead.
Katelyn Heppner continued her excellent post-season with one assist, while her defensive partner
Stacey Henshaw grabbed the other helper.
York struck three times before the end of the period to cool down the hot start the Lakers had.
All three goals came on the power play.
With the score 3-1 after 20 minutes, the Lions added to their lead in the middle frame.
Two more goals put York up 5-1 after 40 minutes.
