Box Score While it wasn't a win and three points, the Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team definitely left it all on the field Tuesday night on the road.
Taking on the Laurentian Voyageurs in a re-scheduled game from earlier in the season, Nipissing stormed back from being down 3-0 and scored three times in thefinal 27 minutes to earn a 3-3 draw with the northern rivals.
Laurentian got off to a strong start, scoring twice in the opening 10 minutes to go up 2-0 early.
They added another goal, going up by three just minutes before the halftime break and finished the opening 45 minutes up 3-0.
The second half was a different game for the two teams, as Nipissing stormed back.
They got on the board in the 63 rd minute as
Cody Vaillancourt converted on a penalty kick.
Gaining momentum from the goal, Vaillancourt would strike again on yet another penalty, moving his team within one goal at the 78-minute mark.
Pressure in the final 12 minutes paid off for the Lakers and
Daniel Kasongo buried the equalizer as time ticked down, making it 3-3.
Arjun Kahlon earned an assist on the third Nipissing goal of the game.
Ryan Miners finished with five saves in net for the Lakers, who ended up with 11 shots on goal of their own.
The tie snapped a mini two-game losing streak for the Lakers, who improved their record to 3-2-1 on the season as they look ahead to a pair of games against McMaster.
The first matchup is Friday night at 7:30pm at Nipissing, followed by the rematch Sunday afternoon in Hamilton.
