WOMEN'S SOCCER: LAKERS CONTINUE IMPRESSIVE SEASON

Box Score The Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team continues to roll, as they have now made it a perfect 6-for-6.

The Lakers improved to 6-0 thanks to a 2-0 win over the Laurentian Voyageurs Tuesday night in Sudbury, in a re-scheduled game.

The game had been postponed from the start of the season due to weather and field conditions.

With the win, the Lakers claimed the 2021 Riley Gallo Cup, a long-standing tradition between the two schools.

Nipissing found the back of the net twice in the first half, as Jessica Emmerton buried the eventual game-winner at the 17-minute mark.

Hannah Gowland added an insurance goal about eight minutes later, making it 2-0.

Despite a lot of shots and chances, the Lakers couldn't extend their lead, however, it didn't matter in the end, as they recorded another clean sheet.

Mykaela Volpe continued her strong campaign with a shutout victory.

Up next, the Lakers face a showdown for first place in the Central Division, battling the McMaster Marauders.

Nipissing is currently in first place with 18 points, followed by McMaster with 16 as the teams play a home-and-home this weekend.

The first matchup is Friday night at 5pm at Nipissing, followed by the rematch Sunday afternoon in Hamilton.
