The Nipissing Lakers lacrosse capped off the regular season in style Saturday at home.
The Lakers dominated the Laurentian Voyageurs, picking up a 19-5 victory to finish the season 4-2, as they now look ahead to the Baggataway Cup.
Nipissing struck fast and poured it on.
They scored three times in the first quarter to get off on the right foot.
From there, the teams combined for seven goals in the second, with Nipissing adding four, while Laurentian replied with three.
The big second ended with the Lakers up 7-3 at the halftime break.
Nipissing broke out in a big way in the second half, outscoring the Vees 12-2.
A nine-goal third quarter put the game away and another three in the fourth capped things off, while Laurentian managed a pair of goals in the final frame.
The Lakers had very strong outings from a number of players, including
Bo Peltier and
Zach Tarr who both had five goals in the victory.
Ryley Ruff,
Quinn Harding and
Will Craig all added two goals each and
Scott Dominey,
Carter Tait and
Jesse Ashkewe chipped in with singles.
In total, eight players had multi-point games for Nipissing in the victory.
The Lakers will now wait until championship weekend, where they'll await their Round 1 opponent.
