Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team is always in the mix, but this past weekend, weren't able to breakthrough.
On Friday, the Lakers dropped a hard-fought 2-1 decision to the McMaster Marauders and on Sunday, Nipissing was shut-out by a final of 4-0 in Hamilton.
In North Bay, McMaster scored an early goal at the 12-minute mark and held a 1-0 lead until the hour mark of the game.
The Marauders would go up by a pair at the 61-minute mark before the Lakers replied just over 10 minutes later.
Mladen Ruzic found the back of the net on a penalty shot to cut into the McMaster's lead, but it wasn't enough for Nipissing.
Sunday afternoon in Hamilton, it was all McMaster.
They scored an early marker to go up 1-0 and added three goals in the second half to put the gam away.
The first tally came at the 8-minute mark and the next two came 13 minutes apart early in the second half.
The scoring wrapped up with a late marker just prior to the final whistle.
The Lakers will wrap up the regular season this weekend with a home-and-home against the Toronto Varsity Blues.
Nipissing will host Toronto Friday at 7:30pm at Nipissing Field, before capping off the regular season Sunday in Toronto.
