Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team is the real deal.
The Lakers continued their outstanding season, picking up two more shutout victories, this time over the McMaster Marauders.
Friday, the Lakers blanked McMaster 3-0 at home and Sunday in Hamilton, Nipissing earned a 2-0 win to improve to 8-0 and all but secure top spot in the Central Division.
The Lakers scored all three goals 11 minutes apart – separated by halftime – to claim the win and three points.
Jessica Emmerton buried the eventual game-winner at the 42-minute mark, set up by Lauren de Jong.
After the teams returned to the field for the second half, Nipissing scored twice quickly to secure the win.
Avery Duguay and
Cassidy Brooks capped off another impressive effort for the team.
Emmerton assisted on the third Lakers goal.
Sunday on the road, it was another perfect day for the Lakers.
It was Emmerton once again scoring the winner, assisted by
Ashley Mlinaric and the insurance marker was added by
Victoria Smith.
Mykaela Volpe continued to be strong in goal, not allowing a goal all weekend.
To date, the Lakers have yet to surrender a goal this season through eight victories.
Nipissing has secured a playoff spot, with final positioning the only thing to be determined.
They will wrap up the regular season this weekend with a home-and-home against the Toronto Varsity Blues.
Nipissing will host Toronto Friday at 5pm at Nipissing Field, before capping off the regular season Sunday in Toronto.
