Box Score The undefeated Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team hosted the 1-1 Ryerson Rams Friday looking to keep their impressive streak alive.
Thanks to a late goal, the Lakers did just that, earning a 1-0 win to move to 4-0.
The teams played a fast-paced, but scoreless first half.
Despite chances at both ends – although the more dangerous chances came from Nipissing – neither team was able to find the back of the net.
Shots favoured Nipissing 6-2 after the opening 45.
In the second half, the Lakers continued to pressure and were finally rewarded late in the game.
Ashley Mlinaric has been on fire all season and kept up her torrid start by scoring the game-winner off of a corner kick in the 75th minute.
The goal was Mlinaric's sixth of the season and the team now has 16 goals for, versus zero against through four contests.
Abby Wroe earned the assist on the game's only goal and was outstanding defensively for the Lakers.
Mykaela Volpe was perfect in net, finishing with three saves, to earn the win as Nipissing outshot Ryerson 12-3 for the game.
The teams get back at it Sunday in Toronto, as the Rams host the rematch.
Game time is set for 1pm.
