Looking to avenge their lone loss of the season to this point, the Nipissing Lakers lacrosse team hosted the Trent Excalibur Saturday afternoon.

In a battle for first place in the Central Division, it was the ?? who came out on top by a final of ??-??

In the opening quarter, neither team gave an inch – or allowed or scored a goal – as the teams finished the first deadlocked at zero.

Trent had a strong second quarter as their offence came alive, scoring six times.

Scott Dominey would reply for the Lakers with the team's lone goal of the half.

Trent's outburst gave them a 6-1 halftime lead.

The teams traded a pair of goals in the third quarter with Dominey and Zach Tarr scoring for Nipissing, who trailed 8-3 after 60 minutes.

In the final frame, Trent added to their lead, making it 10-3 early on.

The teams traded goals later in the quarter - Jesse Ashkewere scored for Nipissing - as Trent cruised to the 11-4 win.

The loss drops the Lakers to 3-2 on the season with one game remaining.

The Lakers wrap up the regular season in two weeks, as they host the Laurentian Voyageurs on Saturday, Oct. 23.
