Box Score On an emotional night, where the Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team honoured another member of the North Bay hockey community, the team came up big.
Hosting the York Lions in their first game on home ice, Nipissing came away with a 6-0 victory.
Prior to puck drop, the Lakers took a moment to pay tribute to the memory of Noah Dugas, who passed away last year.
When play began, it was all Nipissing all night.
Maria Dominico scored a goal in each period – notching a hat-trick – to lead the team.
She opened up the scoring with the lone goal in the first period, set up by
Brianna Gaffney, who is off to a strong start through the opening three contests.
Dominico would pot her second of the night on a penalty shot midway through the middle frame to give Nipissing a 2-0 lead.
Madison Solie would add to the lead just four minutes later, scoring an unassisted marker.
Up 3-0 after 40 minutes, Nipissing kept pouring it on.
The hat-trick was completed when Dominico scored early in the third.
Britney Zack and Gaffney earned helpers on the team's fourth goal.

Emma Thomas, earning her first point.
The fifth Lakers goal came on the power play.
One more goal finished off the scoring as
Ashtyn Denomme scored her first OUA goal, making it 6-0 Nipissing in the last few minutes of the game.
Thomas grabbed her second helper of the night, while
Maggie McKee added the other assist.
A strong effort at both ends gives Nipissing their third win in as many games.
