The Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team got back into the win column Friday night.Â
Welcoming the RMC Paladins to town, the Lakers used two goals from Gael Lubwele to skate to a 3-2 overtime victory to improve to 2-3-0 on the young season.Â
Harrison Caines found the back of the net for the lone marker in the first period, giving Nipissing an early lead they would carry into the intermission.Â
Cole Stewart and Ben Garagan picked up assists on the game's opening tally.Â
The teams traded goals in the middle frame, with the Paladins tying things up at the 13-minute mark before Nipissing responded less than two minutes later while shorthanded.Â
Lubwele scored his first of two on the night, set up by Jacob Collins.Â
Once again, Nipissing would head into the intermission break with a one goal lead.Â
With time winding down in the third, RMC once again evened things up and forced an extra frame where Lubwele would cap things off.Â
He scored his second of the game at the 1:46 mark to give Nipissing the win and the extra point.Â
Collins was once again the setup man, earning his second helper of the night.Â
Brett Epp was strong in net, earning the win.Â
The teams are back at it Saturday at 3:30pm at Memorial Gardens.Â
