Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team went undefeated this past weekend on the road, earning a draw and a win in Kingston.
Friday, the Lakers played to a hard-fought 0-0 draw against the Queen's Gaels before wrapping up the weekend with a 3-1 win over the RMC Paladins.
In the weekend's first game, neither team was able to generate much in the way of offence, despite some shots on goal.
Lakers goalie Gabe Pastore finished with five saves to earn the clean sheet, while the Lakers managed a few opportunities, but were unable to convert.
With the draw, the Lakers improved to 1-0-1 on the season against their rivals from Queen's.
On Saturday, the Lakers found the back of the net three times, led by a pair from
Justin Gomes.
All the offence came in the first half, with each team finding the back of the net before the 25-minute mark.
Elias Goritsas opened the scoring before RMC tied the game just three minutes later.
With the score 1-1, Gomes truck twice in the span of four minutes to give Nipissing the lead and eventually the win.
Pastore was once again strong in net, picking up the victory.
The Lakers are back at home this weekend, hosting the TMU Bold and Toronto Varsity Blues.
Both games are set for 2:15pm at Nipissing Field.
