The Nipissing Lakers lacrosse team wrapped up their season with a heartbreaking loss Saturday night at home.
Despite leading for most of the game, the Lakers ran out of gas in the fourth quarter and eventually dropped a 13-12 overtime decision to the visiting Carleton Ravens.
Nipissing started off very strong, jumping out to a 4-1 lead after one quarter of play.
They added to their lead in the second, as the teams combined for seven goals.
At halftime, the Lakers found themselves up 8-4.
They would once again extend their lead, going up 11-7, after three quarters of play, edging the Ravens 3-2 in the third.
Unfortunately, they stumbled in the fourth, with the Ravens firing home six goals, while the Lakers managed just one.
The big fourth by Carleton sent the game to overtime, where the visitors would complete the comeback, scoring the winner just over a minute into the extra period.
Zach Tarr had a big day, scoring four goals and adding an assist, while
Kaleb Fulkerson had three goals and an assist, Conner Nevin added a pair of goals and three points, while
Ryley Ruff,
Carter Tait and
Jesse Ashkewe all scored and had multi-point games.
The Lakers fall short of the post-season, finishing with a 1-9 record on the season.
