Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team was able to get back on track this past weekend, with a pair of key victories.
The Lakers ended a three-game losing streak with a shutout win over the Trent Excalibur Saturday on the road, before returning home to defeat the RMC Paladins 6-1 Sunday afternoon.
Nipissing posted a total of 10 goals in their two wins, improving to 4-3-0 on the season, as they currently sit in fourth place in the OUA East Division.
Four different goal scorers found the back of the net Saturday in Peterborough, as the Lakers took care of business.
Rylee Traicoff scored the lone goal of the first half, which turned out to be the game-winner, finding the back of the net at the 41-minute mark.
The Lakers added three in the second half, including one early in the second.
Victoria Sica scored just two minutes into the second frame, providing the insurance marker for the Lakers.
Jennifer Milligan continued her strong campaign, scoring at the 57-minute mark, assisted by
Cassidy Brooks.
And finally,
Annika Nolte capped off the Nipissing offence, scoring in the final few minutes of the game to put an exclamation mark of the victory.
Sunday at home, the Lakers had a big opening 45, scoring five times.
Brooks and Milligan each had a pair, Traicoff had two points and Nipissing led 5-0 before the 41 st minute.
The teams traded goals in the second half, with
Victoria Picanco scoring Nipissing's goal, before RMC answered in the dying minutes of the game.
Taylor Mitchener picked up the shutout win Saturday, while her and
Madison Heeley split time in Sunday's win.
The Lakers hit the road again this weekend, heading to Kingston to take on the Queen's Gaels Friday and the RMC Paladins Saturday.
Both games are set for Noon.
