MEN'S HOCKEY: LAKERS BLANKED BY RAVENS

Box Score Facing a tough weekend against two very strong opponents, the Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team was hoping to build on their first win of the season.

Coming off a win last weekend on the road, the Lakers welcomed the Carleton Ravens to town for a Saturday night contest at Memorial Gardens as part of the Break The Ice on mental health event.

In the end, it was the Ravens coming away with the win, 4-0, over the Lakers

Offensively there wasn't much to report early on.

The lone goal came from the Ravens, as they tallied on the power play late in the first period.

That 1-0 lead held up through two periods, as Carleton's first stanza goal was all the offence to report through 40 minutes.

Shot favoured the Ravens 21-18, as the goaltenders, despite not being overly busy, were holding their own.

The Ravens sealed the win with three goals in the third, including two in the first five minutes.

Things ramped up physically later in the game, as multiple scrums slowed the pace of the game.

Carleton added a goal in the final minute to ice the game and give them the win.

Zach Roy made 29 saves in a losing cause Saturday night.

Nipissing will remain on home ice next weekend, hosting the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks for a pair of contests on Friday and Saturday.
