Despite the results, the Lakers are playing some strong basketball and hung in with a very talented Carleton Ravens teams Friday night.
Nipissing hosted the Ottawa Gee Gees Saturday night, in search of their first win of the season.
After 40 minutes, it was Ottawa coming away with a 73-56 win to cap off the weekend.
In the first quarter, the Lakers got off to a bit of a slow start and found themselves down 15-5 after 10 minutes of play.
While they managed 11 points in the second quarter, the Gee Gees posted 16 points of their own and took a 31-16 into the halftime break.
The Gee Gees kept the Lakers at bay for most of the game and continued to hit some key shots to build on their advantage.
They built up a 53-32 lead after three quarters of play.
In the fourth, the Lakers did manage to cut into their deficit, outscoring the Gee Gees 24-20, but they trailed by too many to close the gap any further.
In the end, they fell short by 17, 73-56.
Up next, the Lakers hot the road and take on the Windsor Lancers and Western Mustangs next weekend.
