WOMEN'S SOCCER: A TRIO OF LAKERS EARN OUA HONOURS

Another outstanding season on the pitch saw the Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team finish with seven wins, crack the USports Top 10 and advance to the second round of the OUA Playoffs.

While the team succeeded as a unit, a trio of Lakers were honoured for their strong individual performances as well.

Cassidy Brooks and Rylee Traicoff were named OUA First Team All-Stars, while Jennifer Milligan was named an OUA Second Team All-Star.

Nipissing finished the season with a 7-3-2 record and went 1-1 in the playoffs, defeating the Carleton Ravens in extra time on the road before falling to the Queen's Gaels in Kingston in Round 2.

Prior to the post-season, the Lakers finished the regular season undefeated in seven games, going 5-0-2.

The team also ranked third in goals-for, with 42 and had an impressive 4-1-1 record at home, all adding up to another strong campaign.
 

Cassidy Brooks – First Team All-Star

Brooks had an outstanding season offensively, posting eight goals and seven assists, along with one game-winning goal.
She recorded one hat-trick and had multi-goal games three times throughout the season.
She ranked second on the team in goals, assists and points and was fifth in the OUA in points, tied for eighth in goals and third in assists.
She also had the Lakers winning goal in their Round 1 victory over Carleton.

Rylee Traicoff – First Team All-Star

Traicoff was an absolute rock on the backline for the Lakers, providing strong defensive play, but also chipping in offensively.
She finished with three goals and three assists, while starting all 12 games.
She ranked third on the team in both assists and points and was 2-for-2 from the penalty spot.
 
Jennifer Milligan – Second Team All-Star

Milligan was a force up front for the Lakers, leading the team in goals, assists and points, ranking second in the OUA in all those categories as well.
She finished with 11 goals, eight assists and 19 points in 12 games and she added one game-winning goal.
She had two hat-tricks and four multi-point games, including a monster effort in the season opener, posting six points.
Milligan capped off the season with seven points in the final two games of the year.
