MEN'S BASKETBALL: LAKERS SUFFER A PAIR OF TOUGH LOSSES ON THE ROAD

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 It was a tough weekend for the Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team, suffering a heartbreaking loss one night and struggling the second.

Nipissing lost on a last second basket Friday night, falling to the Windsor Lancers 76-74, before losing 106-65 to the Western Mustangs the following night in London.

For the most part, the Lakers led the Lancers during their contest to begin the weekend.

After being tied 19-19 through the first, the Lakers took an eight point lead into the halftime break, up 41-33.

Windsor clawed back to cut the Nipissing lead to three points after 30 minutes of play and completed the comeback in the fourth, outscoring the Lakers 21-16, including hitting the game-winning shot in the dying seconds.

Noah LaPierre had a monster game, scoring 31 points, while Ricardo Neves had a double-double, putting up 10 points and 10 rebounds and Nathan Courie added 10 points in the contest.

Saturday to wrap up the weekend, the Lakers got off to a slow start and weren't able to recover as Western continued their strong play to start the season.

Nipissing found themselves down 34-14 after one and 63-30 at the halftime break.

Things didn't get much better in the second half, as the Mustangs outscored Nipissing 43-35, cruising to the win.

Jack Hagerty led the way for the Lakers with 27 points and D'Andre Johnson added 13 in the contest.

Nipissing is back at home for four straight games to close out the first semester.

They host Toronto and TMU this weekend at the Robert J. Surtees Athletic Centre, with game times set for 8pm both nights.
