Box Score In the middle of a four game homestand to close out the first half of the OUA season, the Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team was looking to get back into the win column.
After a tough loss Friday night to a talented Toronto Varsity Blues team, the Lakers hosted the TMU Bold Saturday night, hoping for a better result.
A big second half, where they scored 53 points, catapulted the Lakers to a win, earning the weekend split and grabbing their second win of the season.
It was an evenly matched half, with both teams taking control of the game at different points, but no one running away with the game.
TMU held a slight two point lead, 22-20, after the opening 10 minutes.
Nipissing came back and outscored the Bold by a single point in the second quarter, moving within just a point heading into the halftime break.
The Lakers had a chance with two seconds left on the clock, but were unable to convert.
In the third, Nipissing came out on fire at both ends of the court, limiting the Bold's chances and capitalizing on their own.
Nipissing outscored TMU 26-21 in the third, giving them a four point lead, 65-61, heading to the fourth quarter.
Already up, the Lakers began to take over and pull away, as they built up their advantage to nine points at one point and led 88-75 with less than two minutes to go.
From there, the Lakers sealed the win with some tenacious rebounding and key defensive stops on their way to the 13-point win and a weekend split.

Danny Lukusa led the Lakers with 16 points each, Noah LaPierre added 15,
Muktar Mohamed had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds and
David Bokanga had 10 in the victory.
The Lakers wrap up the first half of the campaign with a pair of home games next weekend.
Nipissing hosts Laurier Friday night and Waterloo Saturday, both at the Robert J. Surtees Athletic Centre and both scheduled to start at 8pm.
