Box Score The Nipissing Lakers are hitting the court for their final weekend of the first half of the season and they begin the final two games facing the Laurier Golden Hawks.

The Lakers are coming off a strong weekend where they earned their first win of the season during a weekend split.

They kept up their impressive play and won a thriller, picking up their second win of the season.

A fourth quarter comeback and a last second bucket gave the Lakers a 58-56 win over Laurier Friday night.

Nipissing didn't waste any time jumping out to an early lead.

The Lakers led 14-7 midway through the opening quarter and built up a 22-10 advantage after 10 minutes of play.

Laurier responded in the second half, cutting into Nipissing's lead and getting the game within 10 midway through the second.

The Hawks outscored the Lakers in the second quarter, but still trailed 30-20 at the halftime break.

In the third, it was all Laurier early, as they not only tied the game up, but managed to take the lead, 35-34, outscoring Nipissing 15-4 in the first five minutes.

The Lakers responded in the second half of the quarter and used a last-second shot to take a 40-39 lead into the fourth.

The fourth quarter didn't disappoint.

Nipissing fought back to tie the game 44-44 early in the quarter, but once again trailed by one late.

Down 51-50, the teams traded baskets down the stretch and set up last second for the Lakers.

Sawyer Fischer took a pass from Megan McCarter and cashed in, sinking the layup to give the Lakers a one point lead with 0.3 seconds left.

The win gives Nipissing victories in two of their past three games.

Megan McCarter led the Lakers with 14 points and Krystal Osburn had a double-double, posting 10 points and 13 rebounds.

The Lakers wrap up the semester with a game tomorrow night against the Waterloo Warriors.

Tip-off is set for 6pm at the Robert J. Surtees Athletic Centre.
