Box Score The Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team extended their point streak to seven games thanks to their second straight win on the weekend Saturday afternoon.
The Lakers topped the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 4-1, sweeping the weekend set, which began last night with a 4-3 victory.
The lone goal of the first period came off the stick of
Cole Stewart, as he scored just after the midway mark of the opening frame.
Elias Lieffers and
Brock Welsh grabbed assists on the goal.
The teams traded goals in the middle stanza, with the Lakers going up 2-0 thanks to
Harrison Caines, who had a goal and an assist Friday night as well as Saturday.
Charles Farmer continues his strong play as well, picking up the lone assist on the goal.
The Ridgebacks answered late in the period, but still trailed 2-1 after 40 minutes.
In the third, the Lakers put the game away with a pair of goals.
Parker Bowman scored the insurance marker early in the third, set up by Farmer and Caines, as they both grab their second point of the game.
Gael Lubwele put the exclamation mark on the weekend, scoring into the empty-net.
Devyn Mayea, who had a strong weekend, grabbed the assist.
Michael Herringer turned aside 28 shots for the win, while Nipissing had 34 of their own.
Next up, the Lakers will travel to Oshawa to battle Ontario Tech on Thursday.
