Box Score The Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team is one win away from a national championship.

The Lakers advanced to the title game thanks to a dominant 4-0 win over the UNB Reds Saturday afternoon in Chartlottetown, PEI.

The Lakers have been perfect through their two wins, scoring five times, while not allowing a single goal.

Lakers goalie Chloe Marshall is 57-for-57 in the team's two wins.

Saturday, it was a complete team effort that gave them a win.

Nipissing scored a goal in each period – including two in the second – to cruise to the win.

In the opening period, Madison Desmerais tapped home a rebound to put the Lakers up 1-0 midway through the period.

Emma Thomas and Ashlyn Zaharia earned the assists on what turned out to be the game-winner.

A pair of goals all but sealed the win in the second, as Madison Solie – Thursday's heroine – scored her second of the tournament.

Malory Dominico found the back of the net late in the period, set up by Maggie McKee and Katie Chomiak to put the Lakers up by three.

In the third, with UNB's goalie pulled, Brianna Gaffney scored into the empty net with her team shorthanded to put an exclamation mark on the win.

Marshall wasn't as busy as she was Thursday, but was just as good.

She finished with 16 saves in the win, while the Lakers had 34 shots on goal.

En route to the championship game, where they'll face the top ranked Concordia Stingers, the Lakers have defeated the number two and three seeds and Concordia ranks number one in the country.

The medal the team has earned is Nipissing's first CIS/USports national medal, with a chance to make it gold.

The finals is set for 5pm ET Sunday afternoon.
