Box Score The Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team put together the type of game they were hoping for to begin the season.
The Lakers topped the visiting Laurentian Voyageurs 11-0 Saturday afternoon in North Bay in the team's home opener.
Nipissing wasted little time finding the back of the net, scoring just five minutes into the game as
Annika Nolte buried her first OUA goal to put the Lakers up 1-0.
From there,
Jennifer Milligan tallied twice to put the Lakers in the driver's seat.
Her first of the game came just a few minutes after the game's opening goal, while her second was at the 12-minute mark.
Before the half-hour mark,
Cassidy Brooks made it 4-0 after re-directing a cross into the left corner of the net.
The Lakers took their four goal lead into halftime.
The attack didn't stop in the second half, as the Lakers poured it on, scoring four quick goals to go up 8-0.
Milligan, Brooks with two and
Avery Cafaro all scored within the first 15 minutes of the second period.
From there, Nipissing continued to add goals, with Cafaro and
Samantha Brooks bulging the twine.
Cafaro scored her second of the game just after the hour mark before
Samantha Brooks and
Victoria Sica rounded out the scoring for the Lakers, as they cruised to the three points.
Taylor Mitchener was perfect in net, picking up the shutout win.
Sunday, the teams wrap up the season series with the final end of a home-and-home in Sudbury.
Game time is set for 2:15pm.
