Box Score Staring down a challenging schedule, the Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team was looking to rebound Sunday on the road after a tough loss Friday night.
The Lakers unfortunately dropped their final game of the weekend, 107-89, to the Guelph Gryphons in Guelph Sunday afternoon.
Nipissing started strong and led but three after the opening quarter, but the Gryphons pushed back in the second and took a six point lead into the halftime break.
In the third, the Gryphons posted 32 points to take the game over, building up an 84-67 lead heading into the fourth and final quarter.
The fourth was tight, but the Gryphons kept the Lakers at a distance despite a push from Nipissing as the decision went to Guelph.
Muktar Mohamed led the Lakers offence with 29 points and 11 rebounds,
Danny Lukusa added 21 and
Noah LaPierre had 13 in the game.
Nipissing is back in action next weekend facing Laurentian both on the road and at home.
Friday's game is in Sudbury, while the rematch is set for Saturday at the Robert J. Surtees Athletic Centre.
