Box Score 2 Coming off a big win to begin the season, the Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team was at home for the first time this regular season.
The Lakers picked up a convincing 4-1 win over the Toronto Varsity Blues Friday night in Toronto and Saturday, they welcomed the TMU Bold to Memorial Gardens.
Nipissing once again controlled the game and picked up their second straight win to start the season, topping TMU 3-1.
In the opening period, the Lakers controlled the pace and pepper the Bold net with shots.
But it was a goal in the second half of the period that broke the ice.
TMU, on the rush, snapped one into the back of the net to go up 1-0.
Despite outshooting the Bold 13-5, the Lakers found themselves down a goal after the opening 20 minutes.
In the middle frame, the Lakers didn't waste time tying the game.
Maggie McKee banged home a rebound to make it 1-1 just 24 seconds into the period.
Katie Chomiak picked up the lone assist on McKee's first of the season.
Nipissing took the lead just before the seven minute mark of the period, as
Malory Dominico finished off a pretty passing play, making no mistake.
Chomiak grabbed her second helper of the game, threading a pass to Dominico who fired a shot short-side to put Nipissing up 2-1.
Nipissing continued to pour it on, adding to their lead.
Abby Lunney took a nice feed from
Elizabeth Laberge, flew down the wing and snapped a shot five-hole to put the Lakers up a pair.
The offensive outburst put Nipissing up 3-1 after 40 minutes, outshooting TMU 23-8.
Up a pair in the third, the Lakers locked things down, allowing a hanful of shots, but nothing dangerous.
Chomiak completed a three-point by icing the game with an empty-netter.

Chantelle Sandquist picked up her second straight win, finishing with 14 saves, while Nipissing peppered 26 at the TMU net.
Next up, the Lakers hit the road to face the Guelph Gryphons and Brock Badgers on the weekend.
