The Nipissing Lakers lacrosse team was eliminated from the CUFLA post-season this past weekend, falling to the division's top team.
The Lakers hit the road and headed to London to take on the Western Mustangs in the qualification game, with the winner advancing to the Baggataway Cup.
Unfortunately for the Lakers, the Mustangs used a strong start to propel them to a 14-6 win, advancing and ending Nipissing's season.
Western came out quickly, building up a 5-2 lead after the opening quarter and adding to that, making it 9-3 at halftime.
The Mustangs added to their lead, outscoring Nipissing 4-1 in the third quarter and led 13-4 after three quarters.
The Lakers pushed in the fourth, edging Western 2-1, but it wasn't enough, as they dropped the contest.
Jesse Ashkewe had two goals,
Connor Nevin had a goal and two assists, while
Matt Lalonde,
Liam Low and
Dalton King all added singles.
Carter Tait had three assists in the contest, as well.
