WOMEN'S SOCCER: LAKERS COME UP JUST SHORT IN QUARTER-FINALS

Box Score Another strong season and playoff run came to an end Saturday night on the road for the Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team.

After a Round 1 victory over Ontario Tech, the Lakers fell short in a tightly contested OUA quarter-final matchup in Kingston against the Queen's Gaels.

A late second half goal gave the Gaels a 2-1 win and eliminated the Lakers from title contention.

Queen's opened the scoring in the 24th minute after a scramble in front of the Lakers goal, but it didn't take Nipissing long to reply.

Eight minutes later, Cassidy Brooks evened things up, scoring her first of the playoffs.

With the score 1-1 heading into the final 10 minutes of the game, the Gaels found the goal that would send them to the semi-finals.

In the 82-minute, Queen's took the lead and tallied what would be the game-winner, giving them the edge as they held on for the remaining time.

Nipissing outshot Queen's, but were unable to find the offence they needed to advance.
