Box Score Looking to avenge a pair of losses, including a tough overtime defeat last weekend, the Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team was at home for a pair of games.
Friday night, they welcomed the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks to town, looking for their first victory of the season.
Despite a quality first half, the Lakers weren't able to sustain the pressure and consistency, as they fell by a final of 75-56.
The Lakers got off to a strong start, erasing an early lead and finishing the first quarter ahead by two, leading 16-14.
In the second frame, Ontario Tech picked up the pace at both ends of the court, outscoring Nipissing 17-14 as they took the lead late and held on to a slight advantage into the break.
After 20 minutes of play, the Lakers trailed the Ridgebacks 31-30.
In the third quarter, the Ridgebacks took control and an impressive frame put them in the driver's seat.
They outscored Nipissing 23-9 to take over and build up a lead heading to the fourth.
In the final 10 minutes, Nipissing poured it on, scoring 26 points of their own, but Ontario Tech did just enough to stay ahead and secure the win.

Darnaz Mabanza each had 16 points and
Ricardo Neves added 11 for the Lakers in tonight's contest.
The Lakers are back in action Saturday afternoon, hosting the powerful Queen's Gaels.
Tip-off is set for 6pm at the Robert J. Surtees Athletic Centre.
