Box Score The Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team will be looking to put together 40 strong minutes Saturday evening, as they are back on the court.

It was just one quarter that came back to bite the Lakers Friday night, as they dropped their home opener to Ontario Tech.

Looking to bounce back, the Lakers host the top-ranked Queen's Gaels Saturday evening, as both teams cap off a pair of weekend games.

The Lakers kept pace for the most part, but ran out of gas, as the Gaels claimed a 90-73 victory in North Bay.

In the opening quarter, the Lakers fell behind early and fought back, but still trailed 26-13 after 10 fast-paced minutes.

Ahead of halftime, the Lakers mounted a comeback to cut into their deficit and cut it to nine points late in the second quarter.

Down 13 after one, the Lakers trailed 46-34 at the halftime break, but gained momentum late in the quarter.

In the third quarter, The Lakers cut the Gaels lead to single digits, but another push by Queen's put them up 14 in the final few minutes.

While Nipissing managed to keep it a game, cutting off any Gaels runs, as well as continuously fighting back and closing the gap, in the final few minutes of the game, the Gaels pulled away,

They held an 85-66 lead with under two minutes to go.

From there, Queen's sealed the win, topping the Lakers by 17.

Ricardo Neves posted 22 points for the Lakers, Darnaz Mabanza had 21 and Alvin Icyogere added 16 in the contest.

The Lakers hit the road next weekend, taking on the Waterloo Warriors Friday night and Laurier Golden Hawks Saturday afternoon.
