Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women's hockey continues to roll.
The Lakers won their ninth and 10 th games in a row, sweeping their road trip against the Western Mustangs and Windsor Lancers on the road, allowing just one goal in the process.
Friday night, the Lakers topped the Mustangs 3-1 before blanking the Windsor Lancers 4-0 Saturday to wrap up the trip.
In Friday's win, Nipissing scored a goal in each period to propel themselves to the win.
Kara Den Hoed scored in the first and
Lana Duriez tallied in the second and up a goal.
Western scored early in the third to cut the Lakers lead to one, but
Katie Chomiak sealed the win with an empty-net goal late in the game.
Chantelle Sandquist was outstanding, making 34 saves in the win.
Saturday, the Lakers were in control all game.
Led by a pair of
Malory Dominico goals, Nipissing skated to the shutout win.
Dominico scored the first two goals of the game – one in the first and midway through the second – to lead the team.
Chomiak added her second of the weekend and
Abby Lunney rounded out the scoring in the third.
Sandquist wasn't as busy as she was Friday, but was perfect, turning aside all 28 shots she faced.
The Lakers will close out the first half of the season next weekend at home, hosting the Toronto Varsity Blues Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
