Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers men's basketball hit the road for the final time this past weekend, heading to Ottawa.
The Lakers hung tough with two very strong opponents, but came up short in the end, falling to the Ottawa Gee Gees and Carleton Ravens.
A solid start wasn't enough for Nipissing, as they lost 81-62 Friday to the Gee Gees.
Nipissing led 20-19 after the opening quarter, but trailed 43-33 at halftime.
In the second half, the Lakers were outscored 38-29, but did edge Ottawa in the fourth, 19-17, as they attempted to climb back into the game.
It was too little, too late, however.
D'Andre Johnson had 13 points to lead the Lakers,
Danny Lukusa added 11 and
Muktar Mohamed had 10 in the contest.
On Saturday, the Lakers closed out the weekend with a tough 91-61 loss to the Ravens.
The Lakers started slow, trailing 21-9 after the first and 54-27 at halftime.
Nipissing posted 34 points in the second half, but the Ravens managed to extend the lead and claim the win.
Mohamed led the way for the Lakers with 18 points and Johnson added eight in the contest.
Nipissing returns home to face Queen's and Ontario Tech to wrap up the regular season next weekend.
Game time is set for 8pm both Friday and Saturday night at the Robert J. Surtees Athletic Centre.
