Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women's basketball team came up short on their road trip to Ottawa this past weekend.
The Lakers fell to the Ottawa Gee Gees 80-60 Friday night and 90-42 to the Carleton Ravens Saturday to close out the weekend.
In the first contest, the Lakers fought hard, but dropped the contest 80-60 to the Gee Gees.
Nipissing trailed 19-14 after the first and 44-26 at the halftime break.
Ottawa closed out the game with a solid second half, outscoring Nipissing 36-24 to seal the victory over Nipissing.
Megan McCarter had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lakers, while
Sophie Milner had 13 and
Nicole Budd added 12 in the game.
A tough start hurt the Lakers in the second game of the weekend, as they lost Saturday's matchup with the Ravens, 90-42.
Nipissing trailed 57-18 at the halftime break and despite improving in the second half, came up short in the end.
Natalie Martinez and
Megan McCarter each had 13 points in the contest for the Lakers.
Next up, Nipissing returns home to close out the season, hosting Queen's and Ontario Tech.
Game times are set for 6pm Friday and Saturday night at the Robert J. Surtees Athletic Centre.
