MEN'S BASKETBALL: LAKERS DROP A TOUGH DECISION FRIDAY TO THE GAELS

Box Score With only two games left on the schedule, the Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team was looking for a positive finish.

The Lakers hit the court to take on the Queen's Gaels Friday night at home, beginning the final weekend of the season.

The Lakers drop a tough one to the Gaels Friday night at home, falling 108-70.

The Lakers were slow out of the gates, while the Gaels came out strong.

Queen's built up an early 19-6 lead thanks to some hot shooting.

They didn't let up as the quarter progressed, putting up 38 points and finished the opening 10 minutes leading Nipissing 38-18.

In the second, Nipissing were better at both ends of the court, but the Gaels extended their lead by posting another 23 points.

At the halftime break, the Lakers trailed Queen's 61-34.

The Gaels didn't let up in the third, pouring it on and once again building on their lead.

After three, Nipissing trailed Queen's 90-49.

The Lakers did manage to outscore the Gaels in the fourth, outscoring Queen's 21-18, but the game was unreachable at that point, as Nipissing came up short in the end.

Noah LaPierre led the Lakers offence with 17 points, while Darnaz Mabanza added 10 in the contest.

Next up, the Lakers host the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks Saturday night to cap off the campaign.

Tip-off is set for 8pm at the Robert J. Surtees Athletic Centre.
