Box Score The Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team had a little hiccup in their schedule this weekend on the road, but still managed to pick up a win.
The Lakers had their Friday night game versus the Laurier Golden Hawks cancelled due to weather and an accident, so the Windsor Lancers ended up the lone matchup for Nipissing on the weekend.
Nipissing made the most of their long road trip, topping the Lancers 3-1.
Malory Dominico opened the scoring with the lone goal of the first, burying a power play maker for her 14th of the season.
Madison Laberge and
Katie Chomiak picked up assists on the goal.
The Lancers tied the game early in the second period before Chomiak took over.
Nipissing's assistant captain scored her first of two in the dying second of the middle frame, giving the Lakers a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.
Laberge earned another assist.
Chomiak put the game away in the third, scoring her second of the game and 10th of the season, with
Maggie McKee picking up the lone helper.
Chloe Marshall made 24 saves for the victory, while the Lakers peppered the Lancers net with 37 shots of their own.
Next up, Nipissing faces the OUA's top team for a pair as the Toronto Varsity Blues come to town.
Game times are set for Friday and Saturday, both at 7pm, at Memorial Gardens.
