Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team had a strong showing in their first road trip of the season as they headed south.
The Lakers took on the TMU Bold Saturday and the Toronto Varsity Blues Sunday, both in Toronto, earning a 5-2 win over the Bold and a 1-1 draw against the Blues.

Saturday victory vs. TMU
The Lakers started the weekend in style, showing their impressive offence off once again.
Nipissing struck twice in 10 minutes late in the first half, to grab a 2-0 lead heading into the break.
Cassidy Brooks continued her hot start with a goal at the 26-minute mark, while
Jessica Emmerton scored her first of the season 10 minutes later to put the Lakers up a pair.
TMU found the back of the net early in the second half, but Nipissing replied quickly, restoring their two-goal lead.
Rylee Traicoff scored what turned out to be the game-winner just six minutes after the Bold cut into the Lakers lead.
The Bold answered again, making it a one goal game heading into the final 20 minutes of the game.
Nipissing put the game away with two goals in five minutes with time winding down.
Brooks and Emmerton each scored their second of the game, sealing the victory and giving the Lakers their second win of the season.
Taylor Mitchener picked up the win, making five saves.

Sunday draw vs. Toronto
The second game of the weekend wasn't as high scoring as the first, but the Lakers were able to capitalize on late chance to secure a point.
Trailing 1-0 after a goal in the 55 th minute by Toronto, veteran
Jennifer Milligan tied things up at the 75-minute mark to even the score.
Her tally was enough to give both teams a point and finish Nipissing's road trip with four of six points.
Madison Heeley made five saves in her first start of the season, picking up the tie.

Looking Ahead
The Lakers will hit the road again, heading to Ottawa and Kingston next weekend as they face the Carleton Ravens Saturday and wrap up their four game road swing on Sunday against the RMC Paladins.
