Box Score The Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team kicked off Nipissing University Homecoming in style as they hosted the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks Saturday afternoon.
After a strong start, the Lakers cruised to a 6-0 victory to improve to 4-1-1 on the season.
In the opening half,
Cassidy Brooks led the Lakers attack, scoring just shy of the 10-minute mark to get the offence rolling.
Jennifer Milligan earned the assist on the game's opening goal.
Less than three minutes, later, Brooks scored her second of the game capitalizing on a giveaway by the Ridgebacks defender.
Just minutes before halftime,
Jessica Emmerton added to the Lakers lead, making it 3-0.
Tori Patterson grabbed the assist on the third Lakers tally of the game.
In the second half, with a comfortable lead, the Lakers poured it on.
The birthday girl,
Taylor Schell found the back of the less than five minutes into the second half to add to the cushion and put the Lakers up 4-0.
Emmerton buried her second of the game just past the hour mark as the Lakers were firmly in front.
Milligan picked up the sixth Lakers' goal and her third point of the day, capping off the scoring at the 77-minute mark.
Madison Heeley made two saves to record the clean sheet.
Next up, the Lakers host the Carleton Raven Sunday at noon to wrap up the weekend.
