Box Score Coming off a strong effort, but a tough loss, the Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team was looking to finish the weekend off on a high note.

The Lakers entertained the powerful Carleton Ravens Saturday afternoon and despite another strong 90-minute effort, fall short by a final of 2-0.

In the opening half, neither team was able to find the back of the net and although each squad had their share of chances, defence controlled the opening 45 minutes.

The Ravens scored the eventual game-winner at the hour mark, going up 1-0.

The Lakers pushed and pressured late in the game, but in transition, the Ravens picked up a loose ball after three quality Lakers chance and finished the game off, scoring at the 88-minute mark.

Next for the Lakers is a trip to Sudbury to face their northern rivals, the Laurentian Voyageurs.

The game which is this year's Riley Gallo Cup, as well as part of the 705 Challenge Cup, is set for Saturday at 2:15pm.
