The Nipissing Lakers lacrosse team picked up their first win of the season in style Saturday night.
After not seeing the results they were hoping for through the first few weekends of the season, the Lakers broke out in a big way, dominating the Laurentian Voyageurs and coming away with a 14-1 win.
Nipissing jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after the opening quarter and added to it in the second, going up 7-0 at halftime.
They doubled their score in the second half, adding three more goals in the third quarter to build up a 10-0 lead after three.
They potted four more goals in the fourth quarter, with Laurentian breaking the shutout in the final period, but the game was well in hand at that point.
Connor Nevin led the attack, with four goals and two assists,
Jesse Ashkewe and
Dalton King each had two goals,
Carter Tait added a goal and three assists, while
Myles Shorey,
Matt Lalonde,
Quinn Harding,
Josh Janda and
Cayleb Peitz all added singles in the victory.
Ryley Ruff added a pair of assists, as well.
Seven Lakers finished with multi-point efforts and three had multi-goal games.
Next up for the Lakers is a home game Sunday afternoon as they host the Guelph Gryphons at 2pm at the Nipissing Turf Field.
