Box Score The Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team had to wait an extra day to begin their season, but they made it count.
The Lakers made it look easy, dominating the visiting TMU Bold, winning 6-0 to begin the year.
In a first half that was all Lakers, Nipissing struck early and often.
Within the first five minutes,
Cassidy Brooks scored the first of her three goals, finding the back of the net to put the Lakers up 1-0.
About 15 minutes later, the Lakers struck for three goals in 10 minutes.
Kennedy Attwell buried her first of the season, doubling the Lakers lead before the 20-minute mark.
Less than four minutes later, Brooks made no mistake on another opportunity, scoring her second of the game and adding to the Nipissing lead.
And the Lakers weren't done there.
Jennifer Milligan cashed in just before the half-hour mark, making it 4-0 Lakers and to cap off the first half, Nipissing added one more.
Cass Brooks completed the hat-trick, scoring two minutes after Milligan to bulge the Lakers lead to 5-0 after 45 minutes of play.
With a healthy lead, the teams hit the field for the second half.
Nipissing added one just over 10 minutes into the second half as
Annika Nolte tallied her first of the season as the Lakers stayed in control of the contest.
That was the lone goal in the second half, as the Lakers cruised to a season-opening victory.
Taylor Mitchener and
Madison Heeley shared the clean sheet for Nipissing in goal.
The Lakers are back in action next weekend when they hit the road, taking on TMU and Toronto in Toronto.
