Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team battled, but dropped a pair of road games in Ottawa this past weekend.
Friday night, the Lakers fell 80-62 to the Carleton Ravens and 79-56 to the Ottawa Gee Gees Saturday afternoon.
A solid start to the game saw the Lakers down just three points after the first, 21-18 and very much in the game at the halftime break.
With the score 45-37 in favour of Carleton after 20 minutes of action, the Lakers were unable to mount a comeback in the third, as the Ravens pulled away.
A quite fourth offensively saw Carleton seal the game and grabbed the win.
Darnaz Mabanza led the Lakers with 16 points, while
Alex Blackmore and
Alvin Icyogere each added 12 in the contest.
Saturday, a slow start hurt the Lakers as they trailed 20-9 after one and 47-25 at halftime.
They battled back in the second half, posting 31 points, but the Gee Gees were comfortably out in front and secured the victory with 32 points of their own in the final 20 minutes.
Marcus Moore led the Lakers offence with 21 points, while
Alex Blackmore had 15 in the game.
Nipissing returns home for a pair of games next weekend, hosting the Western Mustangs Friday night and Windsor Lancers on Saturday.
