WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: LAKERS FALL TWICE ON THE ROAD

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women's basketball dropped a pair of games on the road in Ottawa against two of the league's best.

The Lakers began the weekend falling 88-53 to the Carleton Ravens and then dropped a 85-56 decision to the Ottawa Gee Gees Saturday.

In the first quarter, the Lakers were unable to slow down the Ravens offence, but kept themselves in game, down just eight after one.

Nipissing had a strong second, with both teams posting 17 points and the Lakers went into the half down just 41-33.

The third quarter was a different story, as the Ravens outscored Nipissing by 18 points and ran away with the game, sealing it in the fourth.

Megan McCarter led the Lakers offence with 21 points, while Katelyn DeCook added nine points in the contest.

On Saturday, a slow start and tough finish decided the game against Ottawa.

The Lakers trailed 28-8 after one quarter, but did bounce back in the second quarter, managing to cut into their deficit and trailed 42-30 at the break.

Nipissing kept pace in the third, but the Gee Gees had a monster fourth quarter while the Lakers ran out of gas and came up short in the end.

McCarter led the Lakers offence again with 19 points, DeCook had a double-double, posting 10 points and 10 rebounds and Chantal Piche added 10 points in the contest.

Nipissing returns home for a pair of games next weekend, hosting the Western Mustangs Friday night and the Windsor Lancers on Saturday.
