Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team had two very different victories this past weekend on the road.
The Lakers returned home after two wins, one a 7-6 triumph over the Laurier Golden Hawks and a 2-1 shootout victory over the Waterloo Warriors.
Saturday night, the Lakers and Golden Hawks combined for 13 goals as Nipissing scored three in the third to grab the comeback win.
Laurier struck first and led four times, but Nipissing had an answer each time.
Maggie McKee tied the game early in the first and
Malory Dominico scored twice in the opening period to give the Lakers a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes.
Laurier scored three of the four goals in the second period, with
Emma Thomas tallying for the lone Lakers goal.
The Hawks led 5-4 after 40 minutes.
In the third, Dominico buried two more, completing a four-goal game, while
Ashley Taciuk also struck for one, giving Nipissing the lead before Laurier scored late to pull within a goal.
Nipissing hung on from there to pick up the three points.

Tessa Kosec and
Megan Hayhurst all had multi-point games.
In a low scoring affair the next day,
Lana Duriez scored the lone goal in regulation and Chomiak scored the shootout winner to give Nipissing their second win of the weekend.
Chantelle Sandquist earned both wins on the weekend, finishing with 72 total saves
Nipissing is back home for a pair of games next weekend, hosting Guelph and Brock.
