Box Score With a lot to play for in the final few games of the regular season, the Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team will look to bounce back after a tough loss Friday night.

The Lakers came up short against the TMU Bold last night and will be looking to grab a weekend split as the same two teams hit the Memorial Gardens ice once again.

A late push wasn't enough for the Lakers, dropping a tight 4-3 decision to the Bold to wrap up the weekend on home ice.

In the opening 20 minutes, Harrison Caines struck, scoring his 14th of the season to put Nipissing up 1-0, with Payton Vescio grabbing an assist on the game's opening goal.

The power play marker came just past the midway point of the period, but before the teams could head to the dressing room for the intermission, the Bold tied things up.

TMU followed up their tying goal with a quick go-ahead marker, scoring just 55 seconds later to go up 2-1.

They continued their late onslaught, scoring a third straight to go up 3-1 before the end of the first period.

The Bold made it 4-1 just over five minutes into the middle frame before the Lakers finally responded.

Down three, Kyle Foreman scored his seventh of the year to cut Nipissing's deficit in half.

Matthieu Franche and Charles Farmer set up Foreman, who scored Friday night as well and is having a strong season for the Lakers.

Caines buried his second of the game to pull the Lakers within one, scoring another power play marker just past the midway point of the period.

Thanks to a pair of goals in the latter half of the period, the Lakers ended 40 minutes down just a goal.

A scoreless third saw the Lakers come up a goal short to cap off the weekend.

Reece Proulx was between the pipes for the Lakers, making 20 saves, while Nipissing had 21 shots of their own.

Nipissing will remain at home for two more games, hosting the Brock Badgers next weekend.
