Box Score Entering the night with identical records, the Nipissing Lakers women's basketball team and the York Lions are both looking to snap winless skids.

At the end of their four game homestand, the Lakers were looking to salvage a difficult part of their schedule and take some momentum into the final stretch of games.

Nipissing was unable to translate a strong first half into a victory, as they couldn't keep pace with the Lions, in an 88-69 York victory.

A high-scoring first quarter saw the teams combine for 43 points, but it was York who was hot early, heading to the break with a 28-15 lead.

While they still trailed, the Lakers came out strong in the second quarter, outscoring York 8-2 early on to climb back into the game, as they were only down seven near the midway mark of the quarter.

A dominant quarter saw the Lakers jump right back into the game and only trail by four at halftime, as they were down 43-39.

York regained control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring Nipissing 25-11 to not only extend their lead, but almost put things out of reach after 30 minutes.

As a result of York's big quarter, the Lakers trailed 68-50 after three.

In the fourth, Nipissing attempted to push back, but the Lions continued to add on and built up a 27-point advantage late in the game.

A tough second half resulted in the Lakers falling to the Lions.

Megan McCarter had a big game, posting a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds, Katelyn Decook added 12 points and Dominique Bouchard had 10 in the contest.

Nipissing hits the road for a pair of games next weekend, heading to Toronto to face the TMU Bold and Toronto Varsity Blues.
