Box Score A long road trip saw the Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team come up short this past weekend in Thunder Bay.
Despite battling for 40 minutes, the Lakers fell short against the Lakehead Thunderwolves, dropping a 94-81 decision in the team's first action of 2024.
Trailing 21-15 after the opening quarter, where they hung in with the T'Wolves, the Lakers exploded for 30 points in the second quarter.
Thanks to hot shooting, the Lakers trailed by just one at halftime, 46-45.
Lakehead took control of the game in the third, however, outscoring Nipissing 24-14 to take a comfortable lead into the fourth quarter.
Nipissing tried to fight back in the final quarter, but it wasn't enough, as they fell by 13.
Marcus Moore led the way with 22 points,
Darnaz Mabanza had 20,
Alex Blackmore had 17 and
Alvin Icyogere added 10 in the game.
Nipissing hits the road next weekend for a pair of games in Ottawa, taking on Carleton and Ottawa.
