Box Score A strong start didn't translate to a victory for the Nipissing Lakers women's basketball team on a weekend road trip to Thunder Bay.
The Lakers fell 66-47 to the Lakehead Thunderwolves Saturday night as the teams met for the lone time this season.
Up14-13 after the first, the Lakers jumped out to a quality start, but a tough second quarter had them down 28-22 at the halftime break.
They kept pace with the Thunderwolves in the third quarter, posting 15 points and were in striking distance heading into the final frame.
Unfortunately they ran out of gas in the fourth and were outscored by 12, coming in up short in the end, losing by 19.
Megan McCarter led the Lakers attack with 13 points, while
Sophie Milner added 11 in the contest.
Nipissing hits the road next weekend for a pair of games in Ottawa, taking on Carleton and Ottawa.
