Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team earned a pair of road wins this past weekend, clinching the OUA East Division title in the process.
Nipissing defeated the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 5-2 Friday night in Oshawa and edged the Queen's Gaels 3-2 in overtime Saturday afternoon in Kingston.
After a scoreless first, the Lakers jumped out to leads of 2-0 and 3-1 in the middle frame.
Maggie McKee and
Katie Chomiak gave Nipissing a 2-0 lead before the Ridgebacks replied late in the period.
In the final 20 seconds, Chomiak buried her second of the period, putting Nipissing up 3-1 after 40 minutes.
Ontario Tech got one back early in the third, but a pair of late markers – one by Ashely Taciuk and a shorthanded goal by
Malory Dominico put the game away, giving the Lakers a victory.
Chantelle Sandquist finished with 15 saves in the win and three Lakers had multi-point efforts.
Saturday, the Lakers erased a two-goal deficit, storming back to score three straight and grab an overtime win.
Lana Duriez scored late in the second to cut the Lakers deficit before Dominico tied the game early in the third period.

Madison Laberge's overtime heroics, as she buried the winner to give Nipissing the extra point.
Rachel Lee earned the victory in net, making 33 saves.
Nipissing will now wrap up the regular season on the road, once again facing the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks.
Puck drop is set for Saturday night at 7pm in Oshawa.
