Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women's basketball team continue to hang in games, but haven't been rewarded in the win column.
The Lakers came up short in Toronto on the weekend, falling 75-57 to the TMU Bold and 80-71 to the Toronto Varsity Blues.
The Bold came out strong, building up an eight point lead on the Lakers in the first quarter and led 41-29 at halftime.
Nipissing wasn't able to gain any traction in the second, posting 28 points, but weren't able to close the gap, falling 18.
Megan McCarter led the Lakers with 19 points,
Chantal Piche had 17 and
Sophie Milner added 12 in the contest.
In the second contest of the weekend, there wasn't much to choose between the Lakers and Blues.
Nipissing trailed by one after one and five at the half.
In the second half, their offence slowed, scoring just 29 points, while Toronto pull away in the third quarter.
A pushback in the fourth wasn't enough, as the Lakers fell by nine.
Milner had an outstanding game, posting 37 points and 11 rebounds, while
Dominique Bouchard had 12, McCarter had 11 points and 11 rebounds and
Katelyn DeCook added 10 points in the contest.
Nipissing is back in action Friday night at home, as they host the Algoma Thunderbirds at the Robert J. Surtees Athletic Centre.
