Box Score The Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team had a tough opponent to kickoff the OUA season, but were looking to get off to a strong start at home.
The Lakers hosted the Carleton Ravens in North Bay Saturday afternoon and erased a 2-0 deficit before falling 3-2 to the defending league champions.
The Ravens jumped on top of the Lakers, scoring a pair of early goals to go up 2-0 just past the 30-minute mark.
Rayane Boumrar got one back late in the half, making no mistake to cut the Lakers deficit in half.
Down a goal at the halftime break, Nipissing had 45 minutes to get back to even.
Olutosin Ajakaiye tapped in a loose ball in the six-yard box to even the score late in the game after great work to move the ball forward.
Unfortunately, the comeback fell short, as the Ravens scored in the dying minutes to steal the win, edging Nipissing 3-2.
